It has come to my attention that most individuals are unknowledgeable when it comes to insurance language and policy coverages. Insurance is not “one size fits all”, nor is it easy to understand. In this industry, having trust in your agent is crucial, but unfortunately, sales agents do not always put the client’s best interest first so they can “make a sale”. Lower a little coverage here, remove a coverage there… and now the premium is less, but you don’t necessarily know why… the pleasure from the savings will last until claim time.

In speaking with my own clients and cross-referencing competitor quotes, many of us are offered inadequate policies without knowing. When pointing out differences, it is apparent to see why premium is slightly lower – there’s hardly any coverage! I truly enjoy knowing my clients understand the coverages they have, and will be comfortable when needing to submit a claim.

Insurance can be a rather dull topic, but it is a very important one as it protects your family and assets from loss. Do you know that you’re adequately covered, or just trust that you are? Do you know the difference between auto physical damage coverages (comprehensive and collision), or the different types of collision? Is your home protected from a water back-up loss? Time and again, I see carriers underinsure or mislead clients, and quantity is usually put above quality. This is eye-opening and I believe this is half of the reason insurance has a negative connotation.
